I am currently working on this series for an exhibition in Herxheim, Germany in October. They are awaiting glazing and will then be presented on raw wood blocks. These continue to develop the theme of playful spontaneity in my ceramic work, and have been hugely rewarding to create. I start with clay that is partially drying; the remains of another sculpture. This allows some modification but also limits full control. Within each work are a range of different types of clay, again allowing for further inconsistencies to arise during the drying and firing processes. Faces balance and nestle - perhaps sleeping, dreaming, or at rest.
I am exhibiting some ceramic work as part of the Coastal Currents Art Festival in Hastings. Alongside the watercolours of Susan Miller, acrylics and silkscreens of Peter Groves and the jewellery of Sara Barrufaldi, some of these sculptures are fresh to the exhibition scene. An open studio event, The ArtWorks, 40a Chapel Park is the venue to see our work on 2nd/3rd and 9th/10th of September 11am until 6pm.
With enormous thanks to all those who collaborated with me over the last few years, this updated website features some of the work we produced. I am delighted to share this and will keep you updated on future exhibitions.
